A Scam-Resistant Trading Routine for DonutSMP
Most bad DonutSMP trades do not require a sophisticated exploit. They rely on urgency, item confusion, or moving the agreement outside a system you can verify. A safe routine is slower by seconds and can save an entire balance.
Verify the item, not the story
Before transferring value, confirm the exact item, quantity, enchantments, durability, custom name, container contents, and any timed property. Similar icons are not proof of equivalent value. Recalculate the unit price yourself instead of accepting a total quoted in chat.
Compare the current AH, Orders, and relevant history. A seller can point at the highest listing; that only proves somebody asked for that amount. It does not prove a sale. For scarce assets such as existing spawners, confirm the displayed type and actual transfer rather than trusting a screenshot or advertisement.
Keep the trade inside permitted value
Official DonutSMP terms prohibit real-money trading, cross-server trading, external gambling, and buying or selling accounts, items, currency, services, or access outside official channels. A proposal involving PayPal, cryptocurrency, gift cards, another server's currency, an external roulette bot, or account credentials is not made safe by a middleman.
Never share a Microsoft login, session file, authentication code, recovery code, Discord token, or Minecraft linking code. Staff do not need those secrets to review a server issue.
Recognize common pressure patterns
Walk away when somebody insists the offer expires in seconds, changes an item after you reviewed it, asks you to pay first without a supported exchange, substitutes a similar username, or refuses to state the full quantity and price. “Trust me,” a cropped screenshot, and a famous name are not transaction controls.
For an AH listing, reread the final item and number before confirming. For Orders, check unit value and remaining demand. For direct agreements using /pay, verify the exact username and terms before money moves. Limits and menus can change, so the current confirmation screen is more reliable than a remembered click sequence.
Preserve useful evidence
For a high-value trade, keep the complete agreement, exact username, date and approximate UTC time, full screenshots of the relevant interface, and before/after state. Do not crop away the context that shows the item or amount. Keep original files and share them only through the appropriate official support channel.
Evidence does not guarantee reimbursement or a particular moderation result. Its purpose is to make a report understandable and to avoid relying on memory.
Use a personal transfer limit
Decide how much you are willing to put into one counterparty or one market position. Split legitimate large transactions into verifiable stages when the supported system allows it. Keep enough inventory space to receive the full amount and check the result immediately.
The most effective anti-scam habit is the willingness to stop. A real opportunity survives a careful item check and clear arithmetic. If the other player benefits only when you skip verification, you do not have a good trade—you have a reason to leave.
